Hammersister (see http://hammersister.blogspot.com/ ) just gave me a great idea. I will tell the story of my trip to Manchester, England in 2003 to go to the set of Coronation Street. It had been my dream for about 10 years. I couldn't wait for the day when I could go to the set and visit "The Street", maybe have my picture taken in the Rovers. I worked hard, saved up, and finally got a chance to go. I flew to London (alone, and I'm NOT a happy flyer!) and met up with my sister who flew in from Japan (she'd been living there). To make a long story only semi-long, after many planes, trains, automobiles, scuzzy hotel rooms, bad food, late nights, motion sickness, directionless wandering etc. etc. I FINALLY found Granada Studios in Manchester. I could barely contain my excitement and I skipped (yes, I actually skipped) up to the ticket window on the set... except it wasn't a ticket window. No. It was a security guard shack which had a big sign posted on the window:
THE SET OF CORONATION STREET HAS BEEN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC SINCE 2001
'Scuse me while I dry my eyes
OK, I'm back... and will continue with another episode of Disaster on Coronation Street... at a later time

You can't be serious about this? My dad is a huge fan of Coronation Street.
Please write more!

That is one of the saddest stories that I have ever heard! I used to watch Corrie with my grandma when I was little and I continue to watch it to this day. I've also thought how amazing it would be to go take a Streetcar to the Rovers (or to splash out at the Clock!), how disappointing that it will never happen now :(
Congrats on the blog!
